Brace Yourself

Hey! Body chain is a fashion turn on again!

Did you know that body chains were used by Indian women to embellish their abs and body, like on their saris or over their bellies? Later on, European fashion embraced the trend of body chains and belly chains over their shirt or pants near their abs.

But as time went by, fashion changed but body chains' popularity and impact cannot be denied when Rihanna, Miley Cyrus and other celebrities flaunted it. You'll see young people embracing the modern way of wearing body chains with their bikinis, little black dress or with their casual tees paired with shorts/skirts.

To emphasize the multi-strand body chain that I'm wearing, I decided to wear it over my black Havana cropped top & skirt set from @stylestaple. It's already given that body chains by themselves are eye-catching embellishments so tone it down a little wearing visually attracting pieces.

Take a closer look. Love at first sight with @velocitime black and gold Voyager & a single ear cuff is the cherry on top.

Knee-high gladiator sandals are also a huge trend these days but  I bet you may be wondering how on earth are you going to style them. I think a pair in black from @purplesoleph goes with anything.

So, what's your say on this body chain fad?

Make a bold statement & make it your outfit's center piece.

Yellow & Purple Mood

Can you guess what my mood is today?
I have learned to know myself for the past years that I am a "Mood Dresser" as my mood dictates the color or style I wear. How about you? Does your outfit dictate how happy or sad you are in any given day?

As I grew up with a family of artists, I believe that there is indeed a psychology of color. In fashion, colors are everywhere from head to toe. Today, I decided to play with a fun color combination to liven up my day: pairing two bold colors to form a statement look which are yellow and purple.

As you can see the sun is out and I love wearing bright colors which convey a joyous and happy mood. The glorious weather calls for pulling out my bright yellow side shirred maxi skirt from @maudeclothing out from the closet. For those who are having a bad day, I recommend sunny shades of yellow to make your day brighter. Just a reminder in fashion, over-killing on yellow can leave you like a walking banana on the streets.

Paired it with a purple ribbon top from @etcgirlshoppe that I love because this rich color oozes with sophistication & royalty. In color psychology, purple also is a stimulating color that boost your energy level when you see it. Often it is used with another bright color when color blocking. For example: yellow and purple.

And of course, gold is the go-to color that brings out the strong colors. Leanne nude flats with gold studded cap toe shoes from @monicaleeshoes is the perfect pair to balance out the colors.

Last but not the least, I found the perfect gold personalized necklace for less from @ladymarmaladeshop. I love how they make it especially for me inspired by my blog. Don't forget my hashtag, #MGPerspireToInspire!

Gazing through the windy day in a sarong from @etcgirlshoppe I used as a head wrap to avoid a bad hair day.

So do you know what colors mean to you? Do you think your mood affects the color you wear?

Don't be afraid to express yourself through colors. Leave your thoughts on the comments section below.

Conceal to Perfection

Do you ever wonder how to properly conceal your face? I will share to you my version of a concealer map to show you how to conceal right because for me, I consider the concealer as one of the must-have cosmetic products no woman should do without. It not only conceals blemishes but it's also designed for eye shadow base, make the lipstick lasts longer and more. I personally use Naturactor Cover Face - concealer from @pennylaneph on Instagram. What I like about it most is it perfectly blends in your skin color for an airbrushed HD look.

We must all admit that our skin is not perfect because of the eternal fight with nature and other external factors, such as the sun, wind, rain, temperature and pollution of the city you live in.  So, the rest of us earthlings might need a little help in how-to-get-a-perfect-skin department.

Get a flawless complexion by following the concealer map.

1.) Prepare your face: Wash it with your desired facial cleanser & moisturize with your favorite face cream with SPF to protect your skin from the sun & so your concealer will go on smoothly.

2.) Target the areas of your face you like to conceal: Apply the concealer by following the concealer map such as:
  • Around the brow: To make your eyebrows pop and to open up your eyes, put a thin line of concealer above and below the brow.
  • The inner corners and under the eyes: I suggest to apply concealer in a pie piece than a half moon under your eye to create a little arrow direction the attention towards your eyes.
  • On the nose bridge and around each nostrils: For contouring purposes and concealing the redness.
  • The corners of the mouth: Just a reminder, our skin starts to sag  as we get older so conceal this part to emphasize your smile and lift up your mouth.
  • The center of the chin: This is the lowest part of the T-zone. Applying concealer here will brighten up the shadow area.
For dark circles, wrinkles, blemishes and lines, pat concealer on with your ring finger and blend it until you have perfectly even coverage.

3.) Blend the concealer: Use a concealer brush or clean fingertips to blend the concealer. Remember to blend it well so it will look natural and avoid having discolored marks around your face.

4.) Set it to last: Apply your liquid foundation that matches your skin tone and skin type. Set it with loose powder for a fresh finish.

Say goodbye to uneven skin tone & blemishes!

May you never wonder how to apply your concealer again.

Flouncing Fringes

Hello, everyone. So before I go on sharing my journey to the fashion world, I'd like you to know a little about me. I'm Melissa E. Gohing, 22, a passionate and committed volleyball player. But unlike most athletes, it turned out I also have love in fashion. It's like my "other woman." Haha!

Finally, I'm making my first ever blog due to popular demand. It started with posting my OOTDs & Fitnesscapades - #GohingToBeFit on my Instagram account (@gohingmelissa) then people have been persuading me to put up my own blog. So here it goes. Hope you'll enjoy, guys!

I see flouncing fringes everywhere! Chic tassels on practically everything - from head to toe. Welcoming back the bohemian fashion trend this 2014. There are lots of options how to wear fringes in so many ways. It certainly is not for the Coachella crowd & "The Great Gatsby" themed parties anymore but it became one of the major looks for the Summer.

I, personally go crazy with colors and shapes. And when I saw this cover up with fringes from @bodyconfashion on Instagram, I already imagined myself wearing it. You can make a statement with a fabulous jacket or cover up with fringe details but try to stay away from looking too vintage with an oversized jacket.
